1. Certificate in Health, Safety and Environmental Processes (CHSEP)
An industry first initiative offered by Don Sayers & Associates in partnership with the University of Fredericton, this is an introductory OSHE program that integrates quality, safety and environmental management into a single curriculum. To date, over 1200 students have benefited from this unique program. The content integration between OSH, Environmental Management, and Quality Management reflects what is happening in the contemporary marketplace. Learners can register and begin at any time, and set their own study schedules according to personal life/work/study balance needs. Quizzes and exams are done online, and everything needed to achieve the program goals is provided online. No additional texts are required. Learners in this program are from every industry sector, as well as from political/legal jurisdictions around the world. Many are current OSH practitioners, and are adding this credential to existing professional designations or other academic achievements. This program is performed entirely online.

2. Professional Diploma in Safety, Health & Environmental Management (DiSHEM)
The University of Fredericton Institute of Professional Learning is pleased to partner with Don Sayers & Associates to offer a new Professional Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management to augment the skills and knowledge of graduates of our Certificate in Health, Safety and Environmental Process (CHESP) program or recognized equivalent. Students will begin the diploma program with pre-existing skills in incident causation theory, risk assessment and physical workplace controls as typically achieved through a certificate-level program.

This diploma will not only add to your existing skills, but stretch your breadth and depth of health and safety knowledge, increase your critical thinking skills, and help separate you from others in the Health, Safety and Environmental Management vocation

The curriculum will challenge you academically, develop you professionally, and prepare you for further opportunities as they become available. This program is performed entirely online. Click here for more information.

Not only do we require that all of our course developers and instructors are active professionals in their fields, but we hold ourselves to that same standard. This means that, in addition to our work in courseware development and learning systems management, we are regularly contracted to:

Conduct safety systems audits.
Develop and conduct gap analysis surveys.
Provide consultation in the development of new and adapting safety programs.
Provide organizational reviews.
Design and develop courseware for government and other organizational clients.
Provide consultation on the development of courseware.

We are convinced that this ongoing practice keeps us at the leading edge of curriculum and courseware development. Can we help you with the management of your OSH or learning systems?

It is NOT a scientifically designed instrument, but is based on the collective experiences of several professional trainers and OSHE professionals. It could serve as a useful indicator and suggest options for improvement.

Answer each question according to your initial impressions. Rate each question according to the table provided and review the results according to the suggestions in the legend. If you want a more detailed evaluation, have individuals at several different levels in your organizational hierarchy complete the checklist and compare the results between levels. A healthy learning organization should demonstrate strong agreement between higher and lower levels throughout the survey. Where gaps exist between levels, important opportunities for improving learning readiness and organizational communications may be evident.

Note: Now that you've completed the survey, it is important for you to know the value of each question's possible response. This will help you understand how we have calculated the final score for your survey. For all questions, the responses are valued like this:

Response 1 = 6 points
Response 2 = 4 points
Response 3 = 2 points
Response 4 = 0 points

Total Points Summary & Recommendations
>100 points This is likely an adaptive, learning organization, able to accommodate a rapidly changing economic and cultural milieu and move quickly to new market opportunities and threats.
75-99 points This organization is doing reasonably well, but most likely has some work to do on one or both of curriculum or evaluation cycles.
60-74 points Average, but not a particularly adaptive organization. Unless the culture changes, this organization will be less and less able to deal with economic and social changes that are impacting every organization today and for the foreseeable future.
<60 points Traditional organizational culture not suited for 21st century business and cultural environment. Crisis management is – or will likely become – the norm, because of the gap between organizational values and the emerging socio-cultural values of the emerging workforce.
